Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992. She then began her studies in marine science at Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage. Bossard started her commercial seafood career in 1999 when she began working on the ship F/V Sunset. The 65' schooner that was converted into a salmon tender was owned by Murat Aritan. The fisherman has been in commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard was married to Aritan in 1999, and the two have joined to defend their businesses. Both are advocates of saving and maximizing the use of renewable resources in the fishing industry. Otolith is directly wholesale distribution of seafood that was started by a woman in Philadelphia in 2007, by a mother of two young children: Bella aged 3 and Andre aged 1. The couple is separated by five months, and she is able to be focused on her finances as well as her environmental goals. Bossard along with Isabella Andre and Isabella Andre (ages 10 and 12 respectively) Return each year beginning in July of 2016 in Southeast Alaska for the summer catch of salmon wild.
